We are heartened to hear it rumoured that the European Commission’s DEBRA proposals (which we had serious qualms about) appear to have failed to gather the support required from member states to be taken forward at this time. It seems that the next round of anti-tax avoidance rules that had been proposed, ATAD III, has also stalled. Might the European Commission’s land grab on direct taxation (which used to be firmly a matter for member states) be running out of steam?
