The Build-To-Rent (BTR) Finance working group was formed with a view to ensuring that a lack of suitable, informed, commercially available credit will not act as a brake on the growth of the UK’s BTR market for professionally managed and rented residential property. The group has always operated in a very flexible way, including meetings with and providing feedback to government officials seeking insights into the BTR lending market.
The group published a Guide to BTR Finance in 2021 under the leadership of working group co-chairs Partha Pal and Carol Hopper of Greenberg Traurig.
Anyone interested in the UK BTR sector should also bookmark the UK BTR 'hub' website which was created in collaboration with the British Property Federation and the UK Apartments Association. It aims to be a single site from which key resources (most obviously from government and relevant industry representative bodies) can be accessed.
In late 2021, the BPF published a guide to ESG in the context of the UK’s institutional owned and managed residential private rented sector (PRS) – it is available here. CREFC Europe members are encouraged to use it in relation to relevant transactions and activities, and to provide feedback either to the BPF direct or to Peter.
In 2022 we have organised occasional virtual or in person gatherings for market participants in our network to compare notes about what they are seeing in the market.
