James Mathias is an executive director and portfolio manager for European and global real estate debt strategies.Based in London, James’ responsibilities include oversight of investment activity, strategy development, mandate implementation and investor relationship management. He is a member of PGIM Real Estate’s European Debt Investment Committee, the Core Debt Sub-Committee, and sits on the Global ESG Council for Real Estate Debt.
Over the last six years, James has been responsible for the development, implementation and execution of an extensive range of real estate debt strategies across Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americason behalf of institutional investors.
Previously, James was chief underwriter for PGIM Real Estate in Europe with oversight over nearly $10B of debt and equity investments across Europe. Prior to that, until 2011, he was the European portfolio manager for 10 Global Real Estate Securities portfolios. He started his career as an assistant investment manager at Smith & Williamson Investment Management.
James is a Chartered MCSI and holds the IMC designation from the CFA Society of the UK. He has a bachelor’s degreein politics from Manchester University.
James is a pension trustee for the PGIM UK Pension Scheme, a member of the Urban Land Institute and of PGIM Real Estate’s Inclusion & Leadership Network (ILN).
